Serpong, 26 November 2025. The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), in collaboration with PPSDM KEBTKE of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, successfully held the Battery School program with the theme “Battery Energy Storage System for Residential and Industry” on 25 to 26 November 2025 at the Indonesian Life Science Center, Puspiptek, Serpong.

This program serves as an important effort to enhance human resource capabilities in energy storage technology, supporting the development of renewable energy and the implementation of BESS solutions across Indonesia.
Participants from Multiple Industrial and Educational Sectors
The training was attended by 14 participants representing diverse backgrounds such as education, battery manufacturing, energy, engineering, and technology. Institutions included:

Observation at the Battery Electric Vehicle Laboratory
Participants also visited the Battery Electric Vehicle Laboratory at NBRI. This session allowed them to see firsthand the facilities used for developing battery and electric vehicle technologies.

The visit gave participants a clear picture of how battery systems are integrated into electric vehicles and energy innovations.

Serpong, 28–29 October 2025 – The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) successfully concluded the Battery School October 2025, an advanced training program focused on “Lithium-Ion Battery Safety and Fire Risk Mitigation in Electric Vehicles (EV)”. Held at the Indonesian Life Science Center (ILSC), Puspiptek, Serpong, this two-day training brought together the largest number of participants to date, consisting of professionals from academia, industries, research institutions, and government sectors.

Enhancing Safety Competence in EV Battery Systems
The training emphasized the importance of understanding the hazards, safety standards, and emergency responses related to lithium-ion battery systems in electric vehicles. Participants learned to identify key issues such as thermal runaway, fire risk, and battery testing protocols, supported by theoretical sessions and real-world case studies delivered by experts from NBRI, PT FAST, EVSafe Indonesia, PT Carsurin Tbk and Fire Department.

Hands-On Practice: Firefighting and Battery Safety Testing
One of the highlights of this training was the practical demonstration on battery pack safety testing and firefighting tactics for lithium-ion battery fires.
Under professional supervision, participants performed live demonstrations simulating emergency responses and mitigation strategies, providing them with the confidence to act effectively in real scenarios involving EV battery incidents.

Through this program, participants gained both theoretical and practical skills covering:

- Lithium-ion Battery Hazards & Thermal Runaway
- EV Battery Standardization & Policy

Each participant received a complete learning E-module, an international certificate (jointly issued by NBRI and Queen Mary University of London), and access to hands-on laboratory practice.

Advanced Battery Technology: Standardization for Ensuring Safety, Performance, and Sustainability in Electric Vehicles

South Tangerang, 25-26 February – The training program “Advanced Battery Technology: Standardization for Ensuring Safety, Performance, and Sustainability in Electric Vehicles” concluded successfully, presenting a significant step forward in strengthening knowledge and skills in electric vehicle (EV) battery technology.
Organized by the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), this two-day intensive program combined comprehensive theoretical and hands-on learning modules. Participants explored critical topics including Lithium-Ion Batteries, Battery Fabrication, Battery Testing & Applications, Battery Pack and BMS, EV Battery Standardization, as well as Regulation and Policy.
In addition to classroom sessions, participants engaged in practical demonstrations such as Battery Fabrication, Cell Performance Testing, Battery Pack Assembly, and Safety Testing. The program concluded with a Project Presentation, allowing participants to apply their knowledge and showcase their understanding of advanced battery systems.
Every participant received an International Certificate certified by NBRI and QMUL, a complete learning e-module book, as well as seminar kits, with meals and coffee breaks provided throughout the two-day event.
This training not only strengthened participants’ expertise in battery safety, performance, and sustainability but also contributed to supporting Indonesia’s clean energy transition through the advancement of EV battery technology.

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), successfully conducted the Advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Technology Training with the theme “All about Lithium-Ion Batteries.”
The program featured comprehensive sessions including Introduction to BESS, BESS Applications and Grid Integration, BESS Regulation and Policy, as well as practical modules such as Battery Cell Performance Testing, Battery Pack Assembly, and Battery Pack Safety and Testing. Participants also engaged in project presentations to consolidate their learning.
To support professional development, the training provided a complete learning e-module book, an international certificate certified by NBRI and QMUL, along with seminar kits, meals, and coffee breaks for all participants.
