Battery School 2025: NBRI Strengthens Vocational Education Through Battery Training for Vocational School Teachers

Serpong, September 29–30, 2025 – The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) once again hosted its flagship program, Battery School, with the theme “Advanced Battery Technology: Standardization & Performance in Two-Wheel Electric Vehicles (2W-EV)” at the Indonesian Life Sciences Center (ILSC), BRIN Puspiptek, Serpong. The two-day training gathered more than 40 participants from industry, research institutions, academia, and vocational high schools (SMK).

Scholarships for Vocational Educators

A key highlight this year was the provision of special scholarships for 10 vocational school teachers from Banten, made possible through NBRI’s collaboration with PT Pamerindo Indonesia. The scholarship allowed teachers to take part in intensive training on battery technology, covering safety, standardization, and practical applications of batteries in electric two-wheel vehicles.

Strengthening Vocational Partnerships

During the event, NBRI and several SMKs signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to expand cooperation in vocational education for the energy and electric vehicle sectors. This initiative was further supported by the Banten Skill Development Center (SDC), which aims to bridge education and industry needs.

Theory and Hands-On Practice

Participants attended a combination of classroom sessions, interactive discussions, and laboratory practices. They also had the opportunity to conduct testing and assembly of batteries directly at NBRI’s research facilities.

Commitment Since 2021

Launched in 2021, Battery School has reached hundreds of participants including students, researchers, industry practitioners, and educators. This year marks a new milestone with the inclusion of vocational teachers as scholarship recipients, ensuring that battery knowledge can be passed on to younger generations through vocational education.

About Battery School

Battery School is NBRI’s monthly program designed to strengthen human resource capacity in battery technology and sustainable energy. It serves as a collaborative platform connecting research, education, industry, and government in support of Indonesia’s energy transition and technological self-reliance.
